Temperature drop of three degrees in Bengal spurs increase in cold across the state

Within a span of 24 hours, various regions of West Bengal, including the capital Kolkata, have experienced a notable drop in temperature, leading to a resurgence of cold weather. The Meteorological Department reported on Friday that the minimum temperature in Kolkata is now 14.01 degrees Celsius, a drop from the previous day's 17.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature reached 25.1 degrees Celsius.

This decrease in temperature is not limited to Kolkata alone; other parts of the state, such as Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, and Bankura, have also witnessed a decline in temperature, intensifying the cold just ahead of Makar Sankranti.

Additionally, North Bengal areas like Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong are already experiencing colder conditions. The Meteorological Department assures that temperatures are expected to rise from next week, signaling an end to the prevailing cold spell.
